Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 program in the Eastern District. This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management, with exposure to field engineering, planning, cost control, and scheduling on heavy civil projects.

You will join a team building bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure, working under supervision and growing into leadership roles while traveling as projects require.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil, electrical engineering, construction management or related field.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as needed for assignments.
• Available for full-time summer work (approximately May–August).
• Strong work ethic, initiative and ethics commitment.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control and project scheduling.
• Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and address minor technical issues on site.
• Maintain records of progress, costs and material usage.
• Plan and schedule job segments and coordinate activities.
• Investigate problems and propose solutions/alternatives.
• Review plans and quantities, and assist with material procurement.
• Work with suppliers to expedite delivery of materials.
