Job summary

Kiewit invites motivated students to join the Summer 2027 Engineer Intern Program in the Eastern District. This internship offers hands-on learning across field operations, exposing you to planning, cost control, scheduling and procurement on major civil projects.

As part of a busy construction environment, interns may travel or relocate for assignments, work full-time during May–August, and gain real-world experience under supervision while developing safety, ethics and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an engineering or construction management degree.
• Commitment to safety and ethics.
• Ability to work full-time during summer (May–Aug).

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, planning, cost control, scheduling, quantity tracking, procurement, and supervision.
• Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and address routine technical issues on site.
• Maintain records of progress, costs and material usage.
• Plan and schedule job segments and coordinate with suppliers.
• Review plans to determine material requirements and pricing.
• Support delivery and expediting of materials with suppliers.
