Job summary

Black Box is seeking a Field Technician responsible for day-to-day service operations, installations, and deployments in Connecticut. The role coordinates with project managers, Smart Hands, and BOA teams to ensure timely, quality service and strong customer relations.

The candidate will install and service low voltage cabling, fiber, and network equipment, perform MAC requests, document outcomes, and assist in planning and resource allocation.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Basic cabling tools and technician tools required.
• Knowledge of data communications networking and IP phone basics.
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
• Experience working in communications closets and field installations.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day service operations of installations, delivery and deployment.
• Maintain a customer service oriented environment focused on problem prediction, detection and resolution.
• Oversee documentation of issue, action plan and outcome and distribution.
• Perform technician work and remove barriers to meeting customer expectations; escalate as needed.
• Support planning, resource allocation, and task delegation to achieve project goals.
• Install and service low voltage cabling, fiber, and network equipment; ensure functionality.
• Physically install, configure and test network assets in data centers and closets.
• Complete MAC requests within defined service levels.
• Coordinate with North American Operations and BOA teams; communicate status.
• Document time reporting, work orders, and SLAs; manage inventory as required.
• Respond to emergencies after hours and meet SLAs.
• Attend meetings and training; participate in project/work orders.
• Achieve performance targets set by leadership.
