Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation's IT & Telecom division seeks a junior-level network engineer to assist with daily administration of the DOT network, focusing on field office operations across NYC sites.

The role requires CCNA, a related degree or equivalent IT experience, and the ability to configure switches/routers, wireless devices and firewalls, plus documentation and travel to remote sites as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years LAN/WAN experience.
Or 4-year high school diploma with 6 years IT experience.
Equivalent education/experience per policy; credits substitute for experience.
CCNA Certification is required.

Responsibilities

Configure and deploy network switches, routers, wireless devices, firewalls for field operations.
Rack and stack equipment and patch copper/fiber cabling in IDF & MDF.
Lift heavy equipment such as UPS and enterprise switches as needed.
Maintain devices with current patch levels and document changes.
Monitor incidents and resolve issues across all DOT sites within SLAs.
Travel to remote sites around the city as required.
