Qualifications

• Ability to learn and apply safety rules and regulations.
• Tactful and suitable personality for customer contact.
• Ability to make legible and accurate reports and records.
• Ability to use a telephone and two-way radio to receive orders and transmit information.
• Must be able to drive and have a valid license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine work assignments following departmental instructions and standards.
• Use video display terminals to access information and interpret data.
• Receive money for deposits, reconnection charges, and outstanding bills and handle payments.
• Change meters and reconnect or disconnect electric service as needed.
• Install meter security devices and manage keys and seals.
• Drive and deliver meters and metering equipment to locations; load/unload materials.
• Assist with meter testing and maintenance in the shop; handle equipment and parts.
• Repair, test, and replace parts of meters; assemble meter boards and panels.
• Check meters for proper seals and identify discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment used.
• Supervise lower classifications and provide guidance on procedures.
• Ensure customer sites and equipment are secure and safe.
