Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, AL seeks an experienced Field Engineer to support Production by documenting changes, answering questions, and coordinating deck-plate modifications.

You will bridge Design Engineering and Production, ensuring timely communication and strict schedule adherence. Relevant background includes shipyard design, production roles, or Austal experience; a bachelor’s in engineering is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7 years of shipyard design/construction experience OR
• 7 years production floor experience OR
• Minimum of 2 years Austal experience serving as Field Engineer I
• Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline is a benefit
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines
• Experienced in interacting with Production, all other internal/external customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.
• Computer literate and familiar with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, DNV, GL, HSNC, NVR, USCG, IMO, etc.)
• Experience in the construction of high speed aluminum and/or Navy vessels is advantageous but not a requirement
• Knowledge of modular construction methods is advantageous but not a requirement
