Job summary

Jacobs in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Mechanical Engineering Professional to design, evaluate and deliver recommendations for facility mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, fire protection, plumbing and process piping.

You will collaborate with client owners, contractors and on-site staff, develop basis of design and SOW documents, oversee construction activities, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards on projects ranging from retrofits to new installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university.
• At least 3 years of practical application of mechanical facilities design engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience.
• Solid knowledge of building codes and related standards (ASHRAE, ASME).
• Proficient with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and ACC.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas.
• Passionate about buildings and construction.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects enabling the heart of our client’s data center site.
• Design, develop, evaluate and prepare recommendations with basis of design (BOD) and scope of work (SOW).
• Oversee engineering and construction for facility mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, fire protection, etc.).
• Manage retrofits of existing systems and new installations.
• Collaborate with client owners, contractors and site personnel to ensure quality and safety.
• Support pre-installation meetings, inspections and project milestones.
