Job summary

Jacobs is hiring an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. You will act as the field representative for mechanical systems and coordinate between construction and design teams to ensure safe, quality, on-time delivery.

The role requires strong communication, 10+ years in mechanical design/construction or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers, and a solid understanding of chilled water systems and CRAH/CRAC units. On-site work with comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to evaluate field conditions and provide practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping, plumbing and other mechanical systems.
• Perform daily site observations and assess installation progress and workmanship.
• Coordinate mechanical design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
• Facilitate responses to RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
• Support reviews of equipment layouts, utility routing, and coordination between trades.
• Participate in constructability reviews, BIM coordination activities, and mockup evaluations.
• Identify and document mechanical installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Support factory testing, bench testing, startup activities, and commissioning preparation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to resolve installation issues.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports summarizing observations, risks, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
• Proactively identify design, quality, and schedule risks and support resolution strategies.
