Job summary

Alamo Cement Company in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Mechanical Site Engineer to provide field-based mechanical engineering support for CAPEX projects. You will review drawings, supervise contractor activities, and ensure compliance with specs and safety standards.

You will coordinate with project management, operations, and suppliers to drive on-schedule progress from constructability through commissioning and turnover, with emphasis on quality, safety, and effective field execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, project engineering, and industrial construction; cement industry desirable.
  • Site experience with mechanical equipment installation and industrial construction.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, conveyors, piping, utilities, or similar systems.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, equipment suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience supporting mechanical completion, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Brownfield plant experience, including shutdowns, tie-ins, and installation around operating equipment, desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide site-based mechanical engineering support for CAPEX projects at the ACC plant.
  • Provide day-to-day technical oversight of mechanical contractors and subcontractors.
  • Verify that mechanical work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, vendor requirements, and project quality requirements.
  • Coordinate field technical issues with contractors, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, and the project team.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and turnover activities.
  • Participate in design, constructability, and installation-readiness reviews and provide practical field input to proposed technical solutions.
  • Monitor mechanical construction progress against the project schedule and assist with look-ahead planning and risk mitigation.
