Job summary

MasTec Utility Services in the United States seeks a Mechanic III to maintain and repair heavy equipment and vehicles used in utility construction. You will inspect trucks, trailers, excavators, and generators, troubleshoot diesel and gas engines, place part orders, and maintain records.

The role requires own tools, a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and CDL within 90 days, with 5 years' experience. Work schedule is M-F 7am-5:30pm; field environment with varying weather.

Qualifications

• MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS; 1/4" up to 2"
• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• CDL class A/B or ability to receive within 90 days of employment.
• 5 years of experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to do tune-ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacing, pressure setting for backhoe, basic engine repair, and electric repair.
• Basic diesel and drive train experience.
• Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
• Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
• Ability to work in inclement weather
• Ability to work schedule M - F; 7am - 5:30pm

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair company/utility equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger dericks, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner.
• Troubleshoot deisel and gas engines
• Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
• Place orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports.
• Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
