About This Role

The Field Mechanic supports line construction crews on the right of way, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for vehicles, including aerial lift trucks, digger derricks, tracked bulldozers, etc.

Travel Requirements

This position requires traveling 75%+ throughout Kansas and additional support in Missouri.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance
• Manage incoming and outgoing equipment
• Perform DOT inspections
• Drive CMVs, operate cranes, and other equipment
• Maintain telematics
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Work a minimum of 50 hours weekly, possibly 7 days

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and electrical systems
• Ability to travel and work outdoors year-round
• Operate construction equipment for diagnostics
• Work in adverse conditions
• Valid driver’s license and adherence to DOT laws
• Manage fuel and purchase receipts responsibly
• Experience with diagnostic software and timesheets
• Ability to multitask and work independently or in teams
• Integrity and dependability

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 3 years’ experience with construction vehicles
• Hydraulics, diesel, mechanic training preferred
• 5+ years’ experience preferred
