Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking a Field Mechanic to travel throughout Iowa to service and repair a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles used in electrical construction projects.

You will diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and perform maintenance across sites. The role requires reading schematics, MIG/TIG welding skills, and a valid CDL (Class A and/or B). Extensive travel and safety-conscious operations are essential for success in this Midwest

Qualifications

• High school graduate with mechanical aptitude and willingness to travel across Iowa.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and trucks is required.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel/gasoline engines, hydraulic and electrical systems and related components.
• Replace and repair damaged components and perform engine flushing, lubrication, and oil changes.
• Troubleshoot and maintain heavy equipment, trailers, and aerial lift platforms across multiple sites.
• Conduct annual DOT and crane inspections and perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Extensive travel across the Midwest region is required.

About this Role - Field Mechanic

We are looking for a talented Field Mechanic who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all types of wire pulling and stringing equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, and vehicles used for electrical construction projects throughout the Midwest.

What You'll Get

• Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools
• Replace and repair damaged components
• Perform engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, oil changes and maintenance checks and all equipment
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repairing all types of heavy equipment, trailers, aerial lift platforms, bulldozer, bucket trucks
• Annual DOT and Crane Inspections
• Perform vehicle preventative maintenance
• Extensive travel required

What You'll Bring

• 2-4 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled and tracked) or trucks
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams
• Strong welding (MIG /TIG) and fabrication skills
• Must possess a valid class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Basic understanding of DOT Regulations
• Good organizational and recordkeeping skills
• Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographical area
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment
• Customer service skills
• High School graduate
• Must possess a valid class A Commercial Drive License (CDL)
• Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout the region
