M. J. Electric, LLC seeks a Field Mechanic to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and electrical systems for heavy equipment across the Midwest.

The role requires 2–4 years of experience with wheeled/tracked heavy equipment and a valid CDL; travel to multiple job sites is expected. Responsibilities include diagnostics, component repair, preventive maintenance, and adherence to DOT and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled or tracked) or trucks.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams.
• Strong welding (MIG/TIG) and fabrication skills.
• Valid Class A CDL required (and Class B CDL may be referenced).
• DOT regulations knowledge and compliance.
• Good organizational and recordkeeping skills.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and related components.
• Replace and repair damaged components and perform engine maintenance.
• Perform engine flushing/cleaning, lubrication, oil changes and general maintenance checks.
• Troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment, trailers, aerial lift platforms and other heavy machinery; ensure safe operation.
• Complete Annual DOT and Crane Inspections as required.
• Perform vehicle preventative maintenance.
• Extensive travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight on multiple projects.

About this Role – Field Mechanic

We are looking for a talented Field Mechanic who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all types of wire pulling and stringing equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, and vehicles used for electrical construction projects throughout the Midwest.

What You'll Get

• Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools
• Replace and repair damaged components
• Perform engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, oil changes and maintenance checks and all equipment
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repairing all types of heavy equipment, trailers,aerial lift platforms, bulldozer, bucket trucks
• Annual DOT and Crane Inspections
• Perform vehicle preventative maintenance
• Extensive travel required

What You'll Bring

• 2-4 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled and tracked) or trucks
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams
• Strong welding (MIG /TIG) and fabrication skills
• Must possess a valid class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Basic understanding of DOT Regulations
• Good organizational and recordkeeping skills
• Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographical area
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment
• Customer service skills
• High School graduate
• Must possess a valid class A Commercial Drive License (CDL)
• Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout the region
