Job summary

Columbus Equipment Company is seeking a Machine Control Field Installer and Support Specialist in Cincinnati, OH. You will install and calibrate 2D/3D machine control components on heavy equipment, perform on-site diagnostics, and train operators to ensure accurate field operation.

You will handle field and shop installations, perform troubleshooting, maintain inventory, and follow safety procedures while delivering reliable customer support and service reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certificate preferred in Electronics, Mechatronics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or Survey Technology.
• 1–3+ years experience with 2D/3D machine control systems (Topcon or Trimble preferred).
• Strong understanding of basic electronic theory, DC/AC circuits, solid-state electronics, and digital circuits.
• Proficiency using electronics test equipment (multimeters, power meters, diagnostic software).
• Solid mechanical aptitude and ability to work around heavy earthmoving machinery.
• Basic computer literacy; proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Installation: Field and shop installations of Topcon 2D/3D machine control components on heavy construction equipment.
• Calibration & Setup: Calibrate, tune, and test machine control components and hydraulic responses per job site specs.
• Diagnostics & Field Support: On-site and remote troubleshooting for hardware, electrical, radio, GNSS, and hydraulic issues.
• Customer Training: Hands-on training for operators, superintendents, and site managers.
• Inventory Control: Maintain and update machine-control inventory.
• Maintenance & Repair: Repair components and systems with minimal supervision.
• Safety & Standards: Follow safety practices and maintain clean work area.
• Documentation: Complete service reports and logs accurately.
