Job summary

STG Inc is seeking a Field Logistics Coordinator to support field operations across Alaska, coordinating freight movements, deliveries, inventory control, and yard operations for projects in Anchorage, Nome, Bethel, and remote sites. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • DOT medical card required.
  • 1 year of experience in construction procurement, logistics, or material coordination preferred.
  • Experience supporting remote Alaska projects and working with Alaska vendors or freight carriers is preferred.
  • Equipment parts knowledge and experience operating a front-end loader or similar material-handling equipment preferred.
  • Hazmat Transportation certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate under Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, and transfers of parts, tools, and materials to and from logistics hubs.
  • Package, label, palletize, and stage freight for shipment.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, containers, and flats using a loader or manual handling.
  • Assist with preparing shipping containers and flats for logistics moves.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for Anchorage, Nome, Bethel, and project sites.
  • Document materials shipped, received, or transferred, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Use Manager+ and other software tools to track assets, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide reporting and documentation support to Management.
  • Work with Foremen, Project Managers, and field crews to verify order accuracy and material needs.
  • Coordinate with Procurement & Logistics to expedite orders.

JOB SUMMARY

The Field Logistics Coordinator supports field operations by coordinating freight movements, deliveries, inventory control, yard operations, and material distribution for projects throughout Alaska. This position works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, vendors, freight carriers, and the Procurement & Logistics team to ensure materials, equipment, and supplies are packaged, documented, transported, and delivered accurately and on schedule. The role combines office-based coordination with hands-on yard responsibilities, including operating equipment, organizing inventory, loading and unloading freight, and supporting logistics activities in Anchorage, Nome, Bethel, and remote project locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, and transfers of parts, tools, and materials to and from logistics hubs.
  • Package, label, palletize, and stage freight for shipment.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, containers, and flats using a loader or manual handling.
  • Assist with preparing shipping containers and flats for logistics moves.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for Anchorage, Nome, Bethel, and project sites.
  • Document materials shipped, received, or transferred, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Use Manager+ and other software tools to track assets, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide reporting and documentation support to Management.
  • Work directly with Foremen, Project Managers, and field crews to verify order accuracy and material needs.
  • Coordinate closely with the Procurement & Logistics department to expedite orders.
  • Research parts, materials, and supplies using internet resources and vendor catalogs.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with vendors, carriers, and freight partners.
  • Safely drive company vehicles including pickups, vans, and flatbed trucks up to 1.5 tons.
  • Perform pickups and deliveries from vendors, supply houses, and freight terminals.
  • Conduct grocery and supply runs, ensuring accurate packing and shipment preparation.
  • Operate a loader with forks to organize, move, and stage materials.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain alertness and follow all DOT, state, and local driving regulations.
  • Provide general yard labor support including cleanliness, organization, and snow/ice management as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, communicate proactively, and support team goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Intermediate understanding of commonly used construction materials, tools, equipment, and terminology.
  • Familiarity with Alaska vendors, freight carriers, and rural logistics networks.
  • Basic knowledge of hazardous material handling, freight preparation, and transportation safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of the Anchorage, Nome, and Bethel road systems with the ability to navigate local routes efficiently.
  • Ability to safely operate pickups, vans, and flatbed trucks up to 1.5 tons while adhering to all driving laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication ability; able to clarify needs, document shipments, and maintain order accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, manage competing deadlines, and follow up on outstanding tasks.
  • Ability to conduct business ethically and professionally while demonstrating integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in interactions with vendors, carriers, customers, and internal staff.
  • Ability to accurately prepare, process, track, and reconcile shipping documentation, inventory records, orders, and related logistics information using company software and vendor platforms.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Smartsheet, internet-based applications, and other business software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field, yard, and office personnel while receiving direction from multiple supervisors and supporting shared operational goals.
  • Adjusts to last-minute changes, shifting priorities, and project demands.
  • Works effectively under pressure, tight deadlines, and high-volume logistics periods.
  • Ability to operate a loader with forks and safely move materials in yard conditions.
MINIMIM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card required.
  • One (1) year of experience in construction procurement, purchasing, logistics, or material coordination preferred.
  • Experience supporting remote Alaska projects and working with Alaska vendors or freight carriers is preferred.
  • Equipment parts knowledge and experience operating a front-end loader or similar material-handling equipment preferred.
  • Hazmat Transportation certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screenings.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. STG has a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment requiring a high degree of efficiency, organization, and attention to detail while supporting multiple projects with changing priorities and deadlines. This position routinely works in both office and outdoor yard environments and may be exposed to varying weather conditions, moving equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dust, and uneven terrain while loading, unloading, organizing, and transporting materials. The employee must exercise flexibility regarding last-minute project needs, changing logistics schedules, and varying workloads. At times, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required to meet operational deadlines, support freight movements, or respond to project requirements. Strict adherence to Company safety policies and procedures is required while working in both office and field environments.
