Job summary

Bergelectric Corp. in San Diego is seeking a Foreman Comm Tech to oversee field installations of low voltage systems, monitor productivity, safety, and quality, and coordinate with the general contractor and customer.

The position requires hands-on leadership, scheduling, material procurement, and adherence to codes and project specs. This safety-sensitive role emphasizes teamwork, accurate labor tracking, and timely completion of projects.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of field experience as a Journeyman Low Voltage Technician.
• Current Voice, Data, Video Low Voltage Journeyman license where required.
• Strong knowledge in fiber, copper and low voltage cabling incl. terminations, splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
• Fully knowledgeable in NEC and state/local codes for OSP/ISP cabling installations.
• Experience ordering/tracking materials, cost projections and developing as-builts.
• Scheduling, material lead times, product knowledge and installation durations.
• Understanding of electrical codes and power system installation (lighting, fire protection, security, data networks).
• Ability to read Electrical Single Line diagrams and verify installations.
• Identify and repair faults in electrical apparatus and circuits.

Responsibilities

• Manage crew tasks and labor tracking to meet productivity goals.
• Set project goals and monitor progress over time.
• Handle purchase orders and ensure materials are received per procedures.
• Follow contract changes and change order procedures.
• Utilize prefabrication facilities and company installation methods.
• Ensure proper safety equipment and tools are onsite.
• Provide notice of crew changes to supervisors.
• Anticipate and resolve potential issues proactively.
• Ensure shifts start/finish on time and comply with break rules.
• Conduct crew performance evaluations.
• Maintain accurate as-builts per project requirements.
• Communicate with owners, architects, contractors, and the team.
• Ensure compliance with codes and Bergelectric safety policies.
• Foster teamwork and monitor crew morale.
• Uphold Employee Handbook policies.
