Job summary

Sehlhorst Equipment Services (SES) is seeking an experienced Layout Engineer to support civil construction projects with strong GPS and field layout expertise. You will provide field layout, GPS control, site work, grading, and underground utilities, collaborating with foremen, project managers, and field crews to maintain accuracy and on‑time completion.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in construction layout or surveying, familiarity with Topcon GPS/Total Station, and the ability to read civil

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in construction layout, surveying, or field engineering (civil, site work, or utility construction preferred).
• Strong GPS. Topcon GPS/Total Station experience a plus.
• Ability to read civil/utility drawings and construction plans.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Familiarity with Topcon Office, Carlson IntelliCAD, Pix4D, Agtek, or Bluebeam a plus.
• Drone pilot license/mapping experience a plus.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Management preferred, but equivalent field experience is welcome.

Sehlhorst Equipment Services (SES), a fast-growing site development, excavation, and underground utility contractor established in 1985, is looking for an experienced Layout Engineer with strong GPS and experience to support our civil construction projects.

About the Role

You'll provide field layout, GPS control, site work, grading, underground utilities, and demolition projects. You'll work closely with foremen, project managers, and field crews to keep projects accurate and on track.
