Job summary

Gaylor Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated Construction Layout Technician/Surveyor to perform electrical construction layout using robotic total stations and GNSS on large-scale commercial and industrial projects. You will support field layout, staking, as-built data collection, and coordination with project teams to ensure accurate measurements and on-time execution.

Travel to active sites is expected. Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of surveying

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year land survey/construction experience preferred.
• Proficiency in survey data collection using GPS receivers and robotic total stations.
• Experience with Trimble equipment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read construction plans and specs.
• Experience with AutoCAD/Revit preferred.
• Strong math background and ability to perform surveying calculations.
• Strong administrative, computer (Word & Excel), and communication skills.

Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Layout Technician/Construction Surveyor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing electrical construction layout using robotic total stations and GNSS equipment on large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.

Scope of Work

The ideal candidate will assist with accurate field layout, point staking, as-built collection, and coordination with project management and field operations to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience.

Experience

• Minimum one year of land survey and/or construction experience preferred.

• Experience with Trimble preferred, not required.
• Demonstrated ability to read construction plans and specifications.
• Experience with AutoCAD / Revit preferred.

• Strong administrative, computer (Word & Excel), and communication skills.

Work Environment

This position requires frequent travel to active construction sites and the ability to work in fast-paced environments. Candidates should be comfortable working closely with field personnel, engineers, and project teams to maintain production schedules and layout accuracy.
