Job summary

Gaylor Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated Construction Layout Technician/Surveyor to perform electrical layout on large commercial and industrial projects using robotic total stations and GNSS equipment.

You will interpret drawings, set up layouts, collect as-built data, and coordinate with project teams. This on-site position requires travel to active job sites, proficiency with Trimble systems or similar gear, and strong math, communication, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of land survey or construction experience preferred.
• Proficiency in survey data collection, including GPS receivers and robotic total stations.
• Experience with Trimble preferred, not required.
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
• Experience with AutoCAD / Revit preferred.
• Strong math background and ability to perform surveying calculations.
• Strong administrative, computer (Word & Excel), and communication skills.

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Layout Technician/Construction Surveyor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing electrical construction layout using robotic total stations and GNSS equipment on large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.

Scope of Work:

The ideal candidate will assist with accurate field layout, point staking, as-built collection, and coordination with project management and field operations to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• High school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience.

Work Environment

This position requires frequent travel to active construction sites and the ability to work in fast-paced environments. Candidates should be comfortable working closely with field personnel, engineers, and project teams to maintain production schedules and layout accuracy.
