Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician 1 as an underfill for an Engineering Tech 3 in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will perform field inspections, assist with surveying, testing, and data collection to ensure projects meet standards and are properly documented.

The role supports construction crews, maintains contract records, and works with engineers, contractors, and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year of public contact experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in performing field and laboratory tests and setting up equipment; gather and compile data and analyze problems to ensure accuracy and conformance to policies.
• Assist engineers, contractors, department staff, other agencies, the public and private business regarding rights of way, bid documents, plans, acquisition, and disposal documentation, and test results; prepare information in appropriate format.
• Perform technical research to ensure programs and procedures comply with state and federal requirements; review documents and note discrepancies; propose corrections to policies or methods.
• Maintain records and contract documents; enter data into systems for analysis and review construction, water rights and contract documents and plans; verify applications and reports for completeness.
• Perform field inspections of construction projects, well locations, water use, boundaries, and right-of-way mapping; review plans and data; record measurements and provide information and recommendations to stakeholders.
