The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is hiring an Engineering Technician 1 as an underfill for an Engineering Tech 3 located in Reno/Sparks, NV. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring field inspections are completed, documenting work, and testing materials according to standards; assist survey crews; and manage contract files and reports.

Engineers, contractors, and the public may require data review, analysis, and coordination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of public contact experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret policy and procedure; basic surveying and drafting knowledge may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with field and laboratory tests and equipment setup.
• Gather data, analyze problems, and ensure adherence to standards and policies.
• Review water rights documents, bid plans, contract specifications, and right-of-way plans.
• Perform field inspections of projects, measurements, and right-of-way mapping.
• Prepare maps, charts, and drafting tasks for construction and surveying.
• Conduct surveying and alignment staking.
