Job summary

State of Nevada, Department of Transportation, is hiring for a Staff 2, Associate Engineer under the ITS Planning and Operations section in the Traffic Operations Division in Carson City, NV. The role manages statewide highway operations projects, ITS programs, and policy development with analytical reporting responsibilities.

Underfill for a Professional Engineer; progression possible with licensure, satisfactory performance, and approval.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices; computer software programs necessary to complete job assignments.
• Ability to make logical engineering judgments, read plans and specs, analyze technical information, and communicate clearly in reports.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, design, analysis and inspection of construction and maintenance of transportation and highway systems.
• Design and analyze traffic systems including signals, lighting, striping, and sign supports.
• Evaluate pavement structural sections and rehabilitation strategies for roads.
• Perform technical and statutory review of water right applications and related duties.
• Provide water quality clearance and environmental compliance reports for highway projects.
• Review wastewater, air, solid and hazardous waste regulations and remediation designs.
• Identify bridges and map locations for future scheduling; review bridge plans and inspections.
• Conduct on-site highway construction inspections and prepare final reports (CEMMS).
• Perform related duties as assigned.
