Job summary

Tectonic is seeking an experienced Instrument Person to join our Land Surveying team for full-time work around the New York City Metropolitan area. The role focuses on operating and maintaining field survey equipment and supporting field crew Chief with data collection.

Candidates should have 2+ years of land surveying experience, knowledge of total stations, levels, data collectors, GPS, and valid driver’s license; overtime may be required, and sponsorship is available for qualified candidates

Qualifications

• 2+ years of land surveying field experience.
• Experience operating total stations, levels, data collectors, and GPS.
• Ability to accurately collect and maintain field data and notes.
• Detail-oriented with basic mathematical/field calculation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a survey crew and follow Crew Chief guidance.
• Availability to work overtime as needed.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; AAS in related field is a plus.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, care for, and maintain field survey equipment.
• Assist Crew Chief with day-to-day field operations.
• Prepare sites for field work by clearing brush and obstacles.
• Upload/download data and photographs; maintain field records and notes.
• Maintain field equipment, vehicles, and supplies; travel across NYC metro area.
• Overtime may be required based on project needs.
