Job summary

CSI is seeking an experienced Design Supervisor - Field Installation to lead our field installation design team and mentor designers. This role blends leadership with hands-on technical expertise to ensure constructible piping systems are designed for safe and efficient field installation.

You will influence design processes, champion advanced technologies, and collaborate with Engineering, Fabrication, Construction, and Project Management throughout projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting & Design, or Engineering Technology required.
• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory training preferred.
• Significant mechanical design experience required.
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of sanitary stainless-steel piping systems and field practices.
• Advanced experience with Revit, Navisworks, Laser scanning, Plant 3D and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with ASME BPE, 3-A, and cGMP standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Designers I–Lead Designers.
• Balance workloads and prioritize multiple field installation projects.
• Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members while supporting career development.
• Ensure designs are accurate, constructible, and code-compliant for field installation.
• Incorporate jobsite experience into design by planning around sequence, materials, and logistics.
• Maximize shop prefabrication to reduce field labor and rework.
• Lead design reviews and maintain project quality standards.
• Champion laser scanning, point cloud workflows, Revit, Navisworks and other design technologies.
• Improve design standards, workflows, templates, and QC processes.
• Evaluate and implement new technology to improve productivity and outcomes.
• Partner with Engineering, Fabrication, Construction, PM, and customers throughout project lifecycle.
• Support strategic planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement in Design Department.
