Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Vision Team Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support for machine vision systems and related controls.

The role involves installation, testing, troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, IPCs, robots and cameras; travel up to 20% and collaboration with global teams.

Applicants should have an Electrical Technology degree or relevant experience, strong communication, and proficiency with Word/Excel.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Electrical Technology or 3+ years in electrical technician field.
• Familiar with PLC logic, Ladder logic, Function Blocks, Structured text.
• Familiar with VFDs and asynchronous motors.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and controls equipment using multimeters and reading diagrams.
• Willingness to travel 15–20% and ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English; proficient in Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support (configuration, installing programs, troubleshooting) with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, IPCs, Robots, Cameras and other electrical components for food processing machinery.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests, commission and test equipment.
• Troubleshoot control systems remotely and on-site (in-plant).
• Create documentation and training materials for users including engineers, customers, and suppliers.
• Assist the engineering team with installation of upgrades and hardware changes to equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support (configuration, installing programs, troubleshooting) w/ PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, IPCs, Robots, Cameras and other electrical components pertaining to food processing industrial machinery.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher in an Electrical Technology field or 3+ year experience working in an electrical technician field.
• Familiarity with PLC logic Ladder logic, Function Blocks, Structured text
• Familiarity with VFD's and asynchronous motors.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and controls equipment, using multimeters, reading electrical diagrams.
• Ability to learn quickly how to operate and troubleshoot new devices.
• Proficient in Word, and Excel
• Excellent communication skills. Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Interface with a global team of like-minded professionals
• Willingness and ability to travel 15% to 20% of the time, including occasional overnight and international trips as required by project needs.
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds
