Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. in New Orleans, LA, is seeking a Vision Team Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support for industrial vision and control systems.

You will configure and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, IPCs, robots, and cameras, support commissioning, and develop training materials for users across engineering, operations, and suppliers. Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical Technology, or 3+ years in electrical tech.
• Familiarity with PLC logic, ladder logic, function blocks, structured text.
• Familiarity with VFDs and asynchronous motors.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and controls equipment with multimeters and reading diagrams.
• Ability to learn quickly and communicate in English.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel 15–20%, including overnight and international trips.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support (configuration, installing programs, troubleshooting) w/ PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, IPCs, Robots, Cameras and other electrical components pertaining to food processing industrial machinery.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests, commission and test equipment.
• Troubleshoot control systems and their interfaces remotely and on-site (in-plant).
• Create documentation and training materials for all potential users including but not limited to Laitram Machinery engineers/technicians, customers, and suppliers.
• Assist the engineering team with installation of upgrades and hardware changes to equipment.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher in an Electrical Technology field or 3+ year experience working in an electrical technician field.
• Familiarity with PLC logic Ladder logic, Function Blocks, Structured text
• Familiarity with VFD's and asynchronous motors.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and controls equipment, using multimeters, reading electrical diagrams.
• Ability to learn quickly how to operate and troubleshoot new devices.
• Proficient in Word, and Excel
• Excellent communication skills. Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Interface with a global team of like-minded professionals
• Willingness and ability to travel 15% to 20% of the time, including occasional overnight and international trips as required by project needs.
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds
