Job summary

AmSpec Group is seeking an entry-level trainee inspector to support basic inspection and sampling in the field. You will complete required paperwork and ensure timely communication with office staff while learning industry standards.

The role involves safety training, shadowing senior inspectors, and handling field duties such as sample collection, temperature readings, and report preparation. Willingness to work 24/7 shifts and travel as needed is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or related experience in the industry.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
• Required to have unrestricted use of a licensed and insured vehicle for job transportation; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Complete all necessary safety and orientation training required to allow access to customer facilities.
• Shadow assigned senior inspector or training person on jobs and learn basic inspection and sampling requirements.
• Read, become familiar with and follow API and IFIA procedures as well as customer and company policies.
• Perform basic inspection and sampling work in the field according to industry and customer requirements, including physical measurement, temperatures, sampling and volume calculations.
• Maintain communications with office staff and keep them updated of changes to the plan.
• Prepare and distribute field reports to vessels, terminals, and the office as assigned.
• Identify and transport samples timely.
• Other similar tasks as assigned by supervisor.
