Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations. You will perform inspections of traffic control, layout, materials and ongoing work under supervision, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and QC procedures.

You must communicate effectively in English, have basic arithmetic, and bring knowledge of construction plans. A high school diploma, relevant certifications, a driver's license, and travel readiness are required for

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency varies by duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day‑to‑day work performed by the contractor. Review/recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports, inspect QC procedures and material testing, and verify conformance with QC plans.
• Review material testing procedures and results for contract conformance and measure quantities of materials placed; may perform sampling/tests of soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
