Job summary

State of North Carolina is seeking an Engineering Technician II (S) for the Whittier Construction Office to inspect roadway and bridge projects. You will review erosion control, sampling, testing, and pay quantities, maintaining accurate records and coordinating multiple inspections.

The role requires outdoor work in varying weather, a valid driver's license for travel, and the ability to communicate clearly with contractors and engineers while ensuring compliance with NCDOT specifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology or related field; two years of progressive technician experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Requires valid driver’s license for occasional travel.
• Experience reading plans, contracts and highway/bridge specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roadway and bridge construction for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Perform field measurements, sampling and testing of materials and pay quantities.
• Maintain daily diaries, records and reports including pay records and material reports.
• Coordinate multiple inspection assignments and deadlines; communicate with contractors and engineers.
