Job summary

City of Pompano Beach is seeking an experienced inspector to perform entry to intermediate-level technical inspections under the Florida Building Code. You will enforce codes, coordinate with contractors, and document non-compliance.

The role emphasizes field inspections, accuracy in plan review, and ongoing professional development to maintain certifications in a fast-paced municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of combined construction experience.
• Two (2) years in High-Velocity Hurricane Zone construction.
• Two (2) years performing plans examiner or inspections preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine field inspections of permitted construction for compliance with approved plans and applicable codes.
• Identifies violations and documents deficiencies and issues correction notices for non-compliance.
• Applies provisions of the Florida Building Code and local ordinances to standard construction scenarios.
• Coordinates inspections with contractors and other trade inspectors.
• Investigates complaints and verifies compliance or violations.
• Escalates complex or unusual code situations to senior inspectors or the Chief Inspector.
