Job summary

Thompson Engineering seeks an experienced Special Inspector to perform field and laboratory inspections of construction materials. You will ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards while maintaining thorough inspection records.

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years in construction inspection, relevant certifications, and the ability to work independently in field environments with clients and teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection or materials testing.
• High school diploma or equivalent; degree in engineering/construction management preferred.
• Current certifications: ICC Special Inspection, ACI Level I, AWS CWI, NICET preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and/or laboratory inspections of construction materials and activities (concrete, masonry, welding, soils, fireproofing, structural steel).
• Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records, test results, and observations.
• Interpret plans, specifications, and codes to ensure compliance; communicate findings to project managers and engineers.
• Maintain certifications and continuing education as required.
