Thompson Engineering is seeking a dedicated Special Inspector to join our team in Mobile, AL. The role involves performing field and laboratory inspections of construction materials and activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of inspection or materials testing experience, relevant certifications, and strong communication skills to report findings to project teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection or materials testing.
• Current certifications in ICC Special Inspection, ACI, AWS, or NICET preferred.
• Strong understanding of IBC, ASTM, ACI, AWS, and other applicable codes.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently in field environments and maintain professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and/or laboratory inspections of construction materials and activities.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and observations.
• Interpret project plans, specifications, and codes to ensure compliance.
• Communicate findings to project managers, contractors, and engineers and resolve issues.
• Maintain certifications and continuing education as required.
