Job summary

W3Global is seeking a Field Inspector to provide field-level construction inspection and compliance monitoring for the Fan Plant Component Repair and Fiber Installation program in New York City and various NYCT facilities.

You will oversee contractors, verify work to drawings and specs, document daily activities, maintain Daily Inspection Reports, coordinate with project teams and MTA representatives, and support quality, safety and security oversight, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction inspection or QA/QC on infrastructure projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specs and document findings clearly.
• Strong field reporting and safety/regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections and verify work per drawings and codes.
• Monitor progress, workmanship, materials, site conditions and safety.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and deficiency logs with corrective actions.

Position Overview

The Field Inspector will provide field-level construction inspection and compliance monitoring for the Fan Plant Component Repair and Fiber Installation program. The Inspector will monitor contractors and subcontractors, verify that construction is being performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and contract requirements, document daily activities, identify deficiencies, and coordinate field issues with the team and MTA representatives. The Inspector to oversee and inspect contractor/subcontractor work, monitor daily construction activities and progress, maintain Daily Inspection Reports, document deficiencies and corrective actions, and support quality, safety and security oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of contractor and subcontractor activities and verify work is being performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements.
• Monitor construction progress, workmanship, materials, site conditions, safety, and overall compliance.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, field observations, progress documentation, deficiency logs, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and related construction documentation as required.
• Identify nonconforming work and coordinate corrective actions with the contractor and project team.
• Support punch-list development, closeout activities, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, contractors, subcontractors, and other field stakeholders to resolve construction issues.
• Work across multiple active locations and support schedules that may include nights and weekends.
• Maintain accurate field records, photographs, inspection documentation, and status information.

Preferred Background

• Construction inspection, field engineering, resident engineering, or QA/QC experience on infrastructure or building projects.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Experience monitoring contractor performance, quality, progress, and deficiencies.
• Strong written documentation and field-reporting skills.
• Ability to work in active construction environments and support non-standard work hours when required.
• Transportation, rail, transit, utility, industrial, or other complex infrastructure experience is relevant.

Preferred Qualifications

• Construction inspection experience on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience working on transportation, transit, subway, rail, infrastructure or similarly complex projects.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong field documentation and reporting skills.
• Experience coordinating with contractors and subcontractors.
• Knowledge of construction quality and safety requirements.
• Experience working in active/operational facilities preferred.
• MTA/NYCT experience is highly desirable.

Certifications

• Discipline-specific inspection certifications, where applicable

The project personnel must receive required PPE, training, safety measures and tools, including NYCT track safety training, PMG 123, OSHA and Public Employee Safety & Health training as applicable.
