Job summary

Owen Thomas Group in New Jersey is seeking a Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects across the state. You will oversee field activities, monitor progress, and collaborate with contractors, project teams, and public agencies to ensure safety, on-schedule completion, and compliance with project requirements.

The role requires 1+ year of inspection experience, Mechanical/Electrical construction know-how, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights

Qualifications

Our client is seeking a Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. This role involves overseeing construction activities in the field, monitoring project progress, and working closely with contractors, project teams, and public agencies to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of construction inspection experience.
• Mechanical and electrical construction experience is required.
• Experience working on rail or transit construction projects is required.
• Experience with transportation agency projects is a plus.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and field procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Physical ability to safely navigate active construction sites.
• Willingness to work days, nights, or weekends as project schedules require.
• ACI and OSHA certifications are preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation and access to a personal vehicle.
• Must be available to work nights and weekends as required by project schedules.
• Must reside in New Jersey.
