Job summary

AmSpec is seeking an entry-level trainee inspector who will eventually perform basic inspection and sampling in the field, complete paperwork, distribute samples and maintain timely communications with office staff.

Responsibilities include safety training, shadowing a senior inspector, following API/IFIA procedures, conducting field measurements and sample collection, and preparing field reports for vessels and terminals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or related industry experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Familiarity with basic word processing and spreadsheets.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for field transport.
• Must be ready to work 24/7 and willing to overtime.
• Capable of working in refineries, terminals, and on-board vessels.
• Must respond to office communications and attend safety meetings.
• TWIC Card may be required.

Responsibilities

• Complete safety and orientation training to access customer facilities.
• Shadow a senior inspector to learn basic inspection and sampling.
• Follow API/IFIA procedures and company policies at all times.
• Perform basic field inspection and sampling, including measurements and volume calculations.
• Prepare and distribute field reports to vessels, terminals, and the office.
• Transport samples properly and ensure timely communications with the office.
