Job summary

Overland AI is seeking a field-forward infrastructure engineer to deploy, configure, operate, and iterate on autonomous ground-vehicle support systems across military exercises, customer demonstrations, test sites and events.

The role blends infrastructure, software delivery, networking, and automation, with up to 50% travel to test sites and installations. You will work with Linux, mesh radios, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure, and build tooling to improve operator efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in network engineering or systems integration in defense/robotics environments.
• Experience deploying Linux-based systems in field environments.
• Hands-on experience with tactical mesh radio systems.
• Experience with SD-WAN or adaptive networking.
• Strong networking, security, and observability knowledge.
• Experience deploying and operating AWS infrastructure and Linux production systems.
• IaC using Ansible or Terraform.
• Programming in Bash, Python, Go, or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage field infrastructure, observability, and logging.
• Administer Linux-based servers, edge compute, containers, and VMs.
• Sustain tactical mesh networks across field exercises and events.
• Configure and operate SD-WAN and adaptive networking.
• Integrate multi-domain networks with cloud relays and partner platforms.
• Manage VPNs, tunnels, and jump hosts at field sites.
• Troubleshoot networking, RF, and system integration during live deployments.
• Document architectures and operational lessons learned.
• Train operators and partner teams on network behavior and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with software/hardware/autonomy engineers to ensure seamless network integration.
• Build infrastructure and automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
