Job summary

This position supports the Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center and involves field data collection, equipment installation and maintenance, and data management for surface-water and groundwater datasets. Ideal candidates will have experience with hydrologic measurements, data entry in databases, and the ability to travel up to 10 nights per month.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: assisting with collection of hydrologic data and taking water level / discharge measurements.
• Experience recording field observations and metadata; assisting with installation and maintenance of hydrologic equipment.
• Ability to enter, retrieve, and maintain scientific data using databases or spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine measurements of stage and discharge under various field conditions using established methods.
• Reviews gage-height data and discharge measurements to verify methods and plots hydrographs.
• Installs, maintains, services, and troubleshoots sensing, recording, communications equipment, and instrumentation.
• Assists in establishing vertical and horizontal datums using established forms and procedures.
• Enters, retrieves, edits, and analyzes surface-water, groundwater, and water-quality data using databases, spreadsheets, and graphics software.
