Job summary

Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.

  • This is a supervisory position that may require completion of a supervisory probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all data collection activities for the Moab Field Office to ensure compliance with policies, deadlines, and budget.
  • Exercises supervisory responsibilities over employees including selection, employment, evaluation, and allocation of personnel to projects and program elements.
  • Develops staffing plans; recommends selection of employees; provides guidance on work related issues; approves training; evaluates performance as rating reviewing official; resolves internal problems; recommends awards; and effects or recommends disciplinary action.
  • Manages resources in a responsible manner to promote efficiency, sound business practices, and adherence to administrative deadlines.
  • Serves as a principal advisor and assistant to the Utah Water Science Center Surveillance Section and Center leadership.
  • Serves as a technical expert in data collection methods, provides training, instruction and advice to technical personnel on USGS standard methods and procedures.
  • Maintains close liaison with cooperators and stakeholders responsible for the development and control of natural resources, advising them on problems relating to management and development.
