The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs on state-owned vehicles and engines. Responsibilities include field service calls, preventive maintenance, brake repairs, and use of diagnostic tools in a large garage setting.

Applicants should have at least six months of related experience or an approved school curriculum, and must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Six months of work experience directly related to automotive or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Completion of one academic year in Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine can substitute for six months experience.
• Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL must be obtained within six months of placement.
