Job summary

JKL Associates in Absarokee, MT is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely install fiber and power cables and support sewer or water facilities as needed. You will operate backhoes, mini excavators, cable plows and track hoes while mentoring junior crew members.

Ideal candidates have field digging experience around utilities, knowledge of prints and schematics, and a willingness to perform basic labor tasks. CDL preferred, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Field experience with digging operations around utilities in rural and urban areas.
• Experience reading prints and schematics relevant to utility construction.
• Willingness to train and mentor other operators; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as backhoe, mini excavator, cable plow or track hoe safely.
• Perform routine maintenance on construction equipment.
• Dig around existing utilities and other utility installations.
• Provide training and assistance to coworkers learning to operate equipment.
• Assist with basic labor tasks: set up, potholing, conduit/duct/cable placement.
• Drive tow vehicle to and from job sites.
• Collaborate with crew to complete tasks on schedule.
