UES, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer to support a specialized project in Portsmouth, Ohio. The role is on-site, providing field oversight, subsurface characterization, and detailed project documentation during geotechnical exploration activities.

The candidate should have PG or PE licensure, 8+ years in geotechnical/environmental work, and hands-on drilling/logging experience. Travel and field adaptability are essential for success on this project.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
Active PG or PE license required for the project.
8+ years of progressive experience in environmental site investigation, remediation, or regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated field experience supporting drilling and geotechnical exploration programs.
Experience with soil and/or rock/core logging and classification.

Responsibilities

Serve as on-site technical representative during geotechnical drilling and subsurface exploration activities.
Observe drilling operations and provide technical oversight of field investigation activities.
Perform detailed soil, rock, and core logging and classification per project requirements.
Document subsurface stratigraphy, material characteristics, sampling intervals, recovery, drilling conditions, and observations.
Coordinate with drill crews on sample collection, boring advancement, and depths.
Prepare and maintain boring logs, field notes, photographs, and sampling records.
Identify changes in subsurface conditions and communicate findings to project team.
