Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Geotechnical Field Engineer for the Port Arthur LNG project in Port Arthur, TX. The role is primarily field-based, directing on-site supervision of pile installation, ground improvement, and earthwork, while coordinating with construction and subcontractors.

The successful candidate will monitor instrumentation, review data, and prepare daily reports. A MS or PhD in geotechnical engineering is preferred, with EIT certification and willingness to travel within the U.S.

Qualifications

• MS in Geotechnical Engineering with 5+ years of field experience, or PhD with 3+ years of experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or in progress.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Site Investigation & Geotechnical Instrumentation supervision and data review.
• Deep Foundations: supervise driven-pile installation and observe PDA/CAPWAP tests.
• Ground Improvement & Settlement mitigation oversight and monitoring.
• Earthwork, utilities, and site civil inspections and documentation.
• General field engineering: issue resolution, daily reporting, NCR handling.
• Prepare geotechnical reports with observations and instrumentation readings.
