Job summary

BurnBot seeks an Assistant Fire Module Leader to help lead field crews in wildfire, prescribed fire, UAS, and related operations. The role focuses on safety, quality, and timely execution, serving as a link between field activities and the Fire Module Leader.

This is a hands-on, non-supervisory, field-based position with travel up to 75% and placement considerations for Medford, OR or Placerville, CA hubs. This is a non-exempt, hourly role with a pay range of $36–$43 per hour.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in wildland fire, fuels mitigation, vegetation management, or prescribed fire operations.
• Demonstrated experience leading crews in field operations.
• Strong working knowledge of field safety practices and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Direct activities of Fire Module Crewmembers in daily field activities for prescribed fire, wildfire, RX2, DSI, and UAS operations.
• Assist with task sequencing, crew pacing, safety, quality and productivity expectations.
• Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and corrective direction to crewmembers.
• Ensure work aligns with project scope, burn plans, and standard operating procedures.
• Identify hazards and help to manage risk; exercise stop-work authority when needed.
• Maintain proficiency with equipment and tools (engine, RX2, chainsaw, UAV, heavy equipment).
• Communicate equipment needs and issues to leadership; support logistics.
