Job summary

Austin Powder Company is seeking a licensed Blaster to perform field shot design, detonation, and safety audits at mining sites. You will interpret drill patterns, coordinate with the crew, and ensure compliance with state and federal explosive regulations.

Strong communication and meticulous safety discipline are required. Responsibilities include documenting shot details, liaising with the Location Manager, and maintaining safe operations in variable outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

  • Must meet all state and federal explosive laws and be eligible as an ATF explosive possessor.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to operate in a mining site environment and respond to safety concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Review drill patterns and diagrams to determine shot layout that meets customer needs.
  • Communicate blast details with the crew on site.
  • Prepare and detonate shots safely and effectively.
  • Conduct pre/post shot safety audits and document per policy.
  • Coordinate handling of customer issues and public concerns with APC personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with location safety requirements and company policies.

Current blaster's license
Experience with initiation systems, laser profiling, seismographs
