Field Evaluations Engineer - Electrical Equipment & Industrial Machinery

Location: Southern California (local travel only)

Travel: up to 50%, valid driver’s license required

X4 Engineering are working with one of the leading Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) companies in the USA, currently seeking a Field Evaluations Engineer to join their team. This position focuses on certification testing of large industrial machines, electrical systems, and electrical equipment. The role involves local travel within Southern California only, offering a more regionally focused opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct certification tests for equipment in accordance with applicable domestic regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Provide guidance to customers on non-compliance issues.
• Develop and execute test strategies to assess compliance, functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Lead client projects by selecting appropriate testing methods and equipment, ensuring accurate interpretation of relevant standards.
• Record and track defects during testing, and document findings in technical reports, SOPs, datasheets, and other documentation.

Key Requirements

• Experience with UL 891 prefered.
• Familiarity with additional standards such as NFPA 79, UL 508A, IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1, UL 2011, EN 60204-1, EN ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06, and UL 1740 would be a bonus
• Preferred experience with functional safety standards such as EN ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with both internal teams and external clients.
• Knowledge of NEC, CEC, and local/provincial electrical codes.

Note: This role involves regular travel within Southern California only and requires a valid driver’s license.
