Job description

A real estate tech company is seeking a dedicated AMI Maintenance Engineer to ensure the integrity of their data collection systems by minimizing hardware offline time. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical data collection equipment, similar to Smart Meters in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Integrity Maintenance: Ensure continuous data capture for electric, whole building, industrial, gas, and water systems.
• Field Equipment Management: Monitor and maintain equipment in the field, addressing any issues that arise to prevent data loss.
• Remote Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment issues remotely, ensuring high data accuracy and uptime.
• Property Coordination: Communicate with property managers to address and resolve equipment issues promptly.
• Hardware Reset: Reset and configure new hardware as needed to ensure seamless data collection. Day-to-Day Activities:
• Monitor software tools to promptly identify lost server communication of deployed electrical meters, IoT sensors, and networking devices.
• Use maintenance ticketing tools to track and update the progress on hardware issues and generate tasks associated with actions taken until resolution.
• Utilize available software tools to remotely troubleshoot hardware and re-establish connection.
• Work with onsite personnel and/or contractors to troubleshoot onsite devices when necessary.
• Coordinate the shipment of replacement equipment when required.
• Remotely manage the replacement of electrical meters and/or IoT sensors by scheduling and communicating with field contractors via phone and/or email.
• Set up and verify the configurations of replacement devices.
• Perform quality assurance on both the installation and data output of the replacement devices.
• Update information related to hardware replacement.
• Perform monthly infrastructure cost control.
• Regularly perform field device software and firmware updates

Required Skills & Experience

Must haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years of experience in hardware troubleshooting
• Basic software familiarity with programming languages is required
• Knowledge of network programming
• Familiarity with the command-line interface
• Basic understanding of wired ethernet and wireless cellular telecommunication devices

Nice to Have Skills & Experience
