Job summary

APTIM is seeking a dependable Environmental Technician to support environmental compliance projects for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps facilities in San Diego County. The role requires fieldwork outdoors (approx.

90%), independent work, and the ability to follow procedures while maintaining accurate records and strong communication with supervisors and customers. Most work occurs outdoors in varying conditions, with occasional travel to an inland project service center at NAS North Island.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required due to federal client and site-access.
• Ability to pass FBI background check.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.
• California driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain within one month.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company vehicle to project sites.
• Collect and document environmental samples at drinking water, wastewater, and hazardous waste facilities.
• Enter sampling information into the sample-tracking database accurately.
• Follow established sampling procedures, QA/QC requirements, and chain-of-custody protocols.
• Provide regular work-status updates and report changes to supervisor.
