Job summary

APTIM Corp. seeks a junior Environmental Scientist in the Norfolk, VA area for full-time support of our stormwater compliance program. The role includes field sampling, data management, and participation in various environmental compliance tasks across multiple sites.

Ideal candidates hold a science degree with 1–2 years of related experience or an entry-level background. Travel to client facilities and flexible hours, including potential weekends, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a core science or related area is required.
• 1–2 years of related work experience preferred; entry level considered with strong academics.
• Willingness to travel to client facilities for stormwater sampling and inspections.
• Ability to work independently in varied field conditions and weather.
• Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint Online.

Responsibilities

• Collect environmental samples in the field and prepare them for lab analysis.
• Calibrate and operate technical instruments for fieldwork.
• Review permits and plans such as MSGP, SWPPP, SPCC, and other site documents.
• Plan and schedule field activities across multiple sites and manage time efficiently.
• Travel to sites using a personal vehicle and coordinate with clients for access.
• Maintain records and document inspection results and compliance observations.
• Provide recommendations for improvements and support project scopes.
