Job summary

Stratus is seeking an early‑career Technician/Scientist/Engineer/Geologist to join its environmental consulting team in NYC. The role focuses on field tasks, with about 80% fieldwork and 20% office duties, including documenting procedures, preparing figures and reports, and supporting ad hoc projects.

The successful candidate will carry out fieldwork at NYC redevelopment sites, adhere to environmental health and safety standards, and learn under experienced professionals in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of experience in environmental consulting or equivalent with education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Studies, or related field.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds, stand long periods, and work in inclement weather.
• Solid knowledge of environmental health and safety standards and NYC regs.
• Excellent attention to detail, technical writing, and communication skills.
• OSHA HAZWOPER training is highly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Execute field work related to monitoring remedial actions and site investigations.
• Manage field activities: equipment, mobilization, subcontractors, sampling, and documentation.
• Assemble field reports, review analytical data, and compile tables.
• Communicate findings to team and client with clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Stay current with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Communicate clearly with site staff, regulators, and internal team.
• Grow within the company and contribute to team objectives.
