Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Agricultural Environmental Services, seeks an Environmental Specialist III to conduct inspections and collect samples to ensure compliance with state environmental regulations, focusing on mosquito control and pest management. Frequent travel and occasional after-hours work for incident response are required, with a valid Class E

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 2 years of environmental/scientific/engineering experience, OR 1.5 years as Environmental Specialist I with Florida, OR bachelor's degree and 6 months relevant experience.
• Valid Class E driver license required
• Restricted-use pesticide license in regulatory inspection and sampling category required and must be maintained
• Must reside in required county throughout employment and be willing to deploy for extended incident response
• Pass post-employment physical examination for respirator/SCBA use capability

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and collect samples to ensure compliance with state environmental regulations, particularly for mosquito control and pest management.
• Occasional after-hours work and travel for incident response activities across six South Florida counties.
